Vancouver International Air-Port, B. C.

Grouse Mountain Resort is a privately owned ski and summer resort and through the long term relationship with the Grouse Mountain Flying Team (GMFT) they allow approved pilots to fly from their mountain. When we fly we are colorful entertainment for the hundreds of thousands of visitors that come up Grouse every season.
We land in Cleveland Park, a sports field in The District of North Vancouver, below Grouse Mountain. The GMFT arranges with the District of North Vancouver to use of the field and pilots pay a user fee, just like the soccer and baseball player that also use the field. The GMFT has exclusive use of the field during the summer when there are no sports games booked.
Grouse Mountain is privately owned and therefore the access to flying there is somewhat restricted. One of the main reasons for this is that Grouse Mountain requires that everyone who flies from their mountain has valid membership and insurance from the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada (HPAC). Grouse Mountain has delegated the management of all non-commercial paragliding and hang gliding to the GMFT and expects the directors of the club to ensure that everyone who flies at Grouse has valid insurance, the required skill level, and suitable equipment.
For the above reasons anyone who flies at Grouse must be either a GMFT member or an approved guest accompanied by a member. In order to become an approved guest a pilot must meet the basic requirements listed below and must contact one of the GMFT directors in advance of when he/she hopes to fly Grouse. After the director has confirmed that the pilot has valid insurance and meets the other requirements he will add the pilot to the approved guest list. The pilot will not be allowed to go up Grouse Mountain to fly before being listed on the approved guest list.
