FLY ANYTIME

Hi ALL,
I am recently on the Guest list and would love to fly off Grouse.
I don't work 9-5 so flying can work during the week as well.
Cheers

Grouse Spectacular

Yesterday was one of these special days on Grouse that come about only rarely. The wind was perfect at take off, there was lift everywhere, and the ceiling was well above our permitted ceiling. I took off at about 3 pm, quickly climbed out to 1800 m, and was off on my first outing to Goat Mtn, Crown Mtn, the Camel and beyond. I spent the next 2 plus hours doing lapses between the Camel and the bottom of the Cut, rarely below about 1500 m, and then settled for a peaceful flight over North Van and landing at 5:30 pm. An spectacular and unforgettable flight. Peter

Big fat thermals everywhere

Today was exceptional on Grouse. An at times fairly strong north/easterly wind made it difficult to launch, but once in the air, there were solid big fat thermals (up to 3 m/s) everywhere. I launched shortly after 4 pm, immediately turned right off launch and found the first leeside thermal that carried me to 1600 m asl. From there, I followed the ridge back to Goat Mtn, Crown Mtn, the Camel, etc., always trying to stay well below 2000 m asl. Amazing!

One more thing: Grouse has removed pretty much all of the snow on the road to the peak, making the hike up much easier and quicker.

Flying starting this weekend

To all team members: I just got the word from guest services that we are OK to fly this weekend. Some of the concerns that have been raised by Grouse are as follows: - Flying to close to the tram. I.e. scratching in the gully below the restaurant. They want us to stay 300' horizontally and 500' vertically from the tram. - No launching during the bird show. Its not running yet so this is a non issue at the moment. - Tram loading etiquette. There have been no particular issues but they would to re-enforce that courteous behavior is important

Thanks to Mark for the new website

I just want to say thanks to Mark for his work in putting this website together. I have been wanting to get a site like this for the GMFT ever since I became a director about three years ago. I think that it will really help reduce the administative workload on the directors and help make the management of the member and guest lists more efficient. I didn't have any time to get a website like this set up and I am really happy that Mark took the time to do this for us.

New GMFT website

I've been doing some work lately with creating 'next generation' web- sites....to put it simply, they are dynamic (ever-changing) sites that are easy for owners to update and change - even if they have no web-site creation experience. They keep sites clean and professional looking and are lively and are almost like an application than a website. I've used this for my Events site (http:// events.dowsett.ca) for a couple years now and have recently started doing sites like this for hire. Russ approached me to revamp the GMFT site to use this type of

We need pictures

Yeah, yeah....the main picture is of me...but hey...I'm the webmaster! :) Actually, I'd rather NOT have my mug up there but it was the only shot I had of the city in the background - honestly! Login and submit some pictures online here that you think are suitable and I'd happily work it in. Submit any and all pictures you have of Grouse as it is the pictures that make the website look inviting to visitors.
